Supervision

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there,” -Rumi

Why me?

I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. I initailly trained in the person-centred model, but over the years have gained additional training in CBT, inner child work, creative therapy, IFS, and DBT, which enables me to work integratively.

I have over 18 years of experience as a counsellor. and have to date achieved an MA at a distinction level, as well as a first-class BSc (Hons) degree, both in counselling and psychotherapy. I am currently a PhD student researching how counselling is experienced by those who are autistic, and I am a peer-reviewed published researcher on the experiences of autistic counsellors in the UK https://doi.org/10.1002/capr.12839. I have also self-published my pieces on being an AuDHD counsellor working in schools (here), a reflexive piece on whether ADHD needs to be recognised in the counselling room (here), and have an active neurodivergent-affirmative blog.

As a supervisor, I like to work reflectively/collaboratively. I enter your world and help you explore deeper aspects of the client process, transference, relationships, ethics, and any organisational influences, to better support you and your clients. I like to become more of a colleague, rather than someone who provides oversight or case management. I offer both lived experience and nearly two decades of clinical experience. I like to think I am down-to-earth and personable, and welcome you as you are. It is important to note that I am neurodivergent-affirming and I unbudgingly base my practice on this. However, while I am unapologetically AuDHD, and I work mostly with autistic and ADHD clients, I can, and do, support allistic clients/supervisees; as my core training was based on neuronormative communication.

I am Senior Accredited with both BACP and NCPS, and a Level 2 ACTO practitioner.

I offer supervision to both qualified and student counsellors and psychotherapists. I support both adults and children and have experince as a school counsellor. However, while I am completing my PhD, I am currently not working with children and young people, but I am happy to support supervisees who do.#

Supervision is crucial in counselling because it enhances professional development, ensures ethical and effective practice, and supports the counsellor's well-being, ultimately benefiting both the counsellor and the client- NCPS
